Interactive Tool to Predict Markets Poised for Medicare Advantage Market Growth

As the saying goes: ”Your health is your wealth”. The beneficiaries of Medicare have the option of receiving medical care through the Fee for Service Scheme or from the Medicare Advantage (MA) program. The MA program provides health insurance for the blind, disabled and those who are at least 65 years old.
Using extensive data on Medicare and health insurance from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) website, we will provide answers to the following research questions:
- Where are MA markets highly concentrated? How much county-level variation is there within states?
- Where is enrollment in MA plans expected to grow most rapidly? At the county level, which types of plans do we expect to grow most rapidly?
- What are the geographic factors associated with the availability of different types of MA plans?
- At the county-level, what are the number of individuals who become eligible for Medicare each year? How many enroll in MA plans?
We will develop a predictive model and spatial mapping to answer these research questions.
